This April Mont Saint-Sauveur hosted the Ride Empire Shakedown, The countries largest snowboard competition. The weather was the best it’s been ever, the skies were blue and the temperature was in the 20’s (celsius). There were 80 amateur’s battling for 3 spots for the finals the following day, let’s just say many of those riders had no business being there, lots of bad wipeouts.
The finals went off this year with lots of double corks, Seb Touts got 2nd and young Mark Mcmorris got 1st place.
This event was the first of its kind and hopefully there will be many more. The event was hosted in someone’s backyard in MT-ST-Hilaire, QC and all of Quebec’s top snowboarders were invited to show off their skills, while Coors light gave out free beer and provided Portuguese Chicken on the BBQ. All in all it was a sick event and can’t wait for the next one.
In February I went out to Calgary to cover the 2010 Burton Canadian Open Slopestyle and Halfpipe events for Push.ca. This was the last international competition before the 2010 winter Olympics, so all of Canada’s Olympics hopefull’s were there shredding the pipe!
In November 2009, Lenny Rubenovitch and Mike Martinet set out to cover the 2010 Olympic Torch relay for Bell/Sympatico.ca across Canada in most major cities. We started the relay in Halifax, what a great city! people were very receptive to the torch passing threw their community. The big highlight in Halifax was getting to see Sidney Crosby run with the torch surrounded by a crowd in excess of 50 000 people, then getting an exclusive interview with Sid the Kid.
We then travelled to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary then last stop in Vancouver. This by far was one of the coolest projects I have ever worked on, never have I felt so much energy just being in a crowd, truly an amazing experience.

Recently in partnership with Underexposed agency we traveled to Keremeos B.C and Elora Ontario to produce videos to promote their facilities. Portage is a cross-Canada non-profit organisation that fosters the strengths and skills of substance dependent persons to enable them, through comprehensive and cost-effective interventions based on the therapeutic community approach, to live lives of sobriety, filled with dignity, self-respect, and accomplishment.

The Vans Backyard Party’08/bowl competition was amazing this year. Skaters from all across Canada and the U.S came to the event, bringing you tons of action and a variety of styles. I had the chance to cover the event for push.ca you’ll have to go there to check the video but for now here are some pics taken by Kalin Georgiev.
